Capital Region National Day of Prayer
2018 Reflections

Capitol Steps and Building

Annual Observance: U.S. Capitol Grounds
Thursday, May 3, 2018

The National Day of Prayer is an annual observance for people of all faiths. President Harry Truman established the day as a national event in 1952. In 1988, President Ronald Reagan signed a resolution designating the first Thursday in May as the National Day of Prayer. This year's theme is:

“...Endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.”
Ephesians 4:3

Reflections From Participants

Proclaiming with a voice of Thanksgiving your marvelous works - Prov 26:7

The day culminated with the National observance in Statuary Hall: The earnestness of the prayers as people huddled in groups, on their knees and individually to cry out to the Lord on behalf of the nation.

Arkansas

The National Day of Prayer gathering at Statuary Hall with Dr. Ronnie Floyd; President of the NDP

* A divided church can't bring a divided nation together. There must be unity in the church first.

* Unity is only possible through the Spirit. It is supernatural.

* Jesus is leading the greatest diversity movement in the history of the world through the church.

* Prayer always precedes every moment of God. It is time for the church to pray according to the will of God so that we can truly see revival in the land.

* America must repent of the spirit of pride that has infiltrated our world. Through repentance we receive hope and repentance precedes revivals.

* The church of Jesus Christ is God's people and his name unites us. Therefore Jesus is waiting for his church to stand up in unity and let the nation hear that name. Restoration and wholeness will come through that name.

* The church must remember that we are not fighting against flesh and blood. We need to put on the whole armor according to Ephesians 6:10-17 and fight in the spiritual realm.

Sampling of reflections received from students who attended CRNDP. View our website to read their full reflections. Seeing CRNDP from the eyes of the NOW Generation; the impact; humbling, encouraging; worth all the prayer and sacrifice of faithfulness

* This event was outstanding and truly a gift from God

* It was a blessing to see people from all over the nation coming together

* I began lifting My Hands, singing and shouting Thanksgiving to our Lord

* A wonderful experience and a tremendous blessing.

* Very welcoming to people of all ages, tribes, tongues, and nations.

* We all engaged in praise, worship, prayer, and declarations.

* The atmosphere was saturated with the sweet presence of the Lord.

* With one people, as one family, to pray for our nation, I thoroughly enjoyed worshipping my great Lord and Savior

* I thank God for the opportunity to be a part of such an amazing prayer meeting.

* It was an amazing experience to gather not with the black or white church, but with the True Church and Body of Christ on behalf of our nation to pray and to cry out.

* This was a time of true repentance for our nation.

* This was an experience I will never forget; to feel the presence of God through peace and joy of people crying out to God unashamed and uttering a cry of humility.

* The moment I stepped foot on the West Lawn the presence of God was overwhelming.

* The highlight of the prayer, for me, was Dr. Ronnie Floyd humbly get on his knees and plead for us to pray for him. In that moment my faith increased!

* To say that the atmosphere was welcoming is an understatement. It felt like heaven on earth.

* America lacked the well-devised topic of "unity", so witnessing the overall message was inspirational and encouraging.

* The worship that took place was incredible, it was so easy to enter into, and I was able to worship freely.

* To witness those of high power and authority, and those of different denominations and cultures, pray and cry out for our nation was amazing.

* I felt the Spirit of God moving!

* The passing of the torch from old to young was the hallmark of the prayer event, as they prayed for us the youth and told us to continue the fight.

* His presence was so strong that I just wanted to burst out in tears while breaking out with a dance of joy.

* I will never forget this day or how when I joined hands with my brothers and sisters of different nationalities to cry out to our Lord.

* I was astonished to see the number of distinct nationalities out there praying to the Lord on behalf of our nation.

* I was honored to be a part of such gathering where people gathered unashamed and bold.

* The National Day of Prayer was the greatest prayer among all prayers.

Dr. Floyd, what an encouragement you are to Capital Region National Day of Prayer! Who can say, but "God has brought you into this position for such a time as this."

CRNDP reflections and varied other expressions verifies they are in tune; and welcome your vision and leadership as the president of National Day of Prayer.
I quote Mary Ellen Senot: "Our time has come. We must possess the spiritual strength to overcome our challenges"

Thank you for greeting us on the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol. We look forward to each year you will take time to greet the assembly gathered at CRNDP and cheer us on.
